A symmetric interplay between the adjoin and basic verses (see Glossary) is shown in the figure, where the two pairs of chapters (21, 49) and (48, 78) participate in mutually complementary ways.
The two horizontal arrows highlight the verse span over the specified number of intervening chapters between the two members in each pair. The 29 chapters from 21 to 49 (top arrow) span out 2147 = 19 × 113 verses. Likewise, the 31 chapters from 48 to 78 span 1160 = 29 × 40 adjoin verses. It is readily apparent the duality between the basic and adjoin verses displayed between the two arrows. The two product factors under each arrow link back to their corresponding chapters via the curved V and W arrows. Factors 113 and 19 from the basic verse span (top arrow) are the adjoin base verses of 21 and 49, respectively (curved W-arrows). Dually, factors 29 and 40 from the adjoin base verse span (bottom arrow) are the verses of 48 and 78, respectively (curved V-arrows)! Appropriately, both 48 and 78 are ords (vertical U-arrows) of 21 and 49, bringing to a full closure the mutual correspondence between the two pairs.
The chapter span 29 from the top arrow cross links with the bottom arrow as verses of 48. With 2147 along with its components 21 and 47, we note the following: 2147 ± 21 × 47 = 3134, 1160! Note the reference to 31 (chapter span, bottom arrow) and its verses, plus the adjoin base span 1160! The adjoin verse span from 21 to 49 is 2176, which is of index 1849, linking 49 to its verses, 18. Interestingly, 3134 is of index 2688, a reference to 88 and its verses, 26. Additionally, 88 is of ord 59, itself, of ord 31. The appearance of 26 and 88 points back to the top arrow when we make the following observation: from base verse 26 to 88, there are 49 chapters with 2516 verses. The latter is of index 2147!
